Blue and white fireworks in the night

Happy New Year!

October 02, 2018

Yes – you read that correctly.  Here at Cogeco Peer 1 September 1 signaled the start of our new fiscal year.  And, as the new year is a time of fresh starts, what better time for me to hit the road for a mini-tour across North America and Canada where I visited our offices in Atlanta and Toronto – meeting the teams and sharing our plans for the next year and beyond.

The conversations I have had recently suggest that the 12 months ahead will be marked as a year of change. Digital transformation is an ongoing process, as is the arrival and adoption of technologies such as blockchain, machine learning, artificial intelligence, hybrid cloud and SD-WAN. Move over big data and welcome to data lakes (where storage is king!).

Our team, along with a group of influential CIOs, took on some of these topics at the recent Canadian CIO Summit 2018 and we will be keeping the conversation going with groups of CIOs in Montreal and Vancouver later in the year.  I’m looking forward to sharing some of those insights with you here in the coming weeks and months.

As our customers around the world build their operations on these technologies, it is clear that speed, security, stability, agility and flexibility remain the core qualities that can make or break the roll-out of a new digital program.  I am determined to ensure that Cogeco Peer 1 continues to be at the forefront of delivering these values, on a local and multi-national basis.

And, as ever, the war on talent rages on. As a services business, Cogeco Peer 1 is always looking for ways to find and develop the very best people in various roles around the world.

In the UK I will be speaking at an upcoming event at Westminster on the subject of diversity in business and will continue to work with my colleagues to ensure that Cogeco Peer 1 maintains its position as a leader in this respect. After all, how many global tech businesses do you know of, where so many key executive leadership roles are held by women?

On a personal note, I’m excited and optimistic about the year ahead – for both Cogeco Peer 1 and our customers.  By continuing to offer the best technology along with an exceptional customer experience, we know that we will continue to stand out from the competition and offer our customers the highest level of products and services in the industry.
