Aptum’s Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Framework

Introduction

Aptum is deeply committed to reviewing, implementing, and tracking environmental, social, and governance concerns across all our locations. This dedication informs every aspect of our business, from the design and build of our products and services through to our collaboration with stakeholders and our supply chain.

Working with our stakeholders, we’ve developed a robust framework for initiatives and policies across all the elements of ESG. It’s a closely monitored iterative process, evolving as issues across the globe shift and change.

Environment

The purpose of our environment policy is to ensure the impact to environment is considered and where possible Aptum’s business activities are environmentally sound and sustainable, both in the short and longer term, minimizing negative impact on the environment.

Electronic waste

As a technology company, we have a responsibility to ensure we minimize electronic waste (e-waste) across all areas of the business.

Our aim is to reuse or recycle electronics wherever possible. For example, we regularly donate used computer equipment to local schools and have an ‘employee laptop donation’ initiative so employees can choose to keep an old laptop in exchange for a small donation to a charity of their choice.

If we cannot source a local charity or school, we engage local partnerships to donate equipment to charities across all our geographical footprint. If reusing the equipment is not an option, we ensure proper disposal of all e-waste to negate harmful pollutants affecting the environment.

Climate considerations

We believe that climate change is one of the greatest threats to our world and are therefore committed to driving down our energy and carbon impacts. Our sustainability program focuses on environmentally sustainable initiatives that deliver near-term efficiency, value, and health for our business.

We are committed to reach net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2030.

Social

Corporate social responsibility is an indispensable part of our activities. We promote and expect ethical business practices from all our stakeholders and strive to carry on our responsibilities with the utmost integrity.

Ethical conduct & whistleblowing

Aptum is a dynamic, customer-driven organization, and while we are continuously evolving and striving to provide innovative solutions for our customers, our drive for success must always be grounded in our commitment to lawful and ethical behaviors.

Our reputation is based on honest and reliable business conduct. Everyone who represents Aptum in any position or capacity personally commits to follow the letter and the spirit of our Code of Business Conduct and Ethics.

Aptum is dedicated to ensuring that all individuals have the ability to raise genuine concerns in good faith without fear of victimization, subsequent discrimination or disadvantage, even if they turn out to be mistaken, and in a confident and/or anonymous manner.

Employee engagement

Our work environments reward innovation and collaboration at all levels. Leaders operate an ‘open door policy’ and employees are always encouraged to provide feedback.

We conduct regular Employee Engagement Surveys and hold periodic employee ‘all hands’ events to enable an engaged and fully informed workforce.

We also foster personal and professional growth for all employees through annual performance reviews, role-specific training and professional development opportunities.

Work-life balance

Aptum believes a healthy work-life balance is essential to its employees’ overall well-being. We promote a number of work styles and initiatives that encourage a balance between work responsibilities, family commitments, and personal life.

Diversity and inclusion

We value all forms of diversity, including cultural, religious, gender, age, ethnicity, sexual orientation, disability and cultural background. We welcome and value diverse views and are committed to creating a community of distinct talent and constant innovation.

Aptum’s historical and future success is built upon total, unyielding integrity and inclusivity. We nurture a positive, inclusive workplace, free from discrimination and harassment. Leaders promote equal opportunities which is also integral to our hiring process.

Community & education initiatives

Supporting the communities within which we work is an indispensable part of our business. We continually encourage all employees to help those less fortunate by offering two days paid annual leave to volunteer for the charities of their choice in their local communities.

During COVID-19, employees held ‘virtual’ events with proceeds benefiting charities such as The Samaritans and Alzheimer’s Society.

Dovetailing with our aim to eliminate e-waste, we regularly donate unused computer equipment to local schools.

Governance

Aptum’s governance policy includes a sound approach to corporate governance that complies with all local laws, rules and regulations. It is adhered to by our Board of Directors, employees, and suppliers who act with integrity and adhere to the highest standards of honest and ethical conduct.

Privacy and security

We designed our privacy and security policies to meet our customer’s needs and comply with local and global standards.

As a technology company, we understand the importance of keeping data private. Our policies are structured to protect the business, our customers, suppliers and employees and shareholders.

We undertake regular rigorous third-party audits that verify security controls for all our products and services.

Vendor Management

Our commitment to contribute to sustainable solutions encompasses those related to the sourcing and procurement of services and products that are critical to our business.

Our responsible procurement initiatives are focused on making sure, wherever possible, we work with suppliers who share similar values and governance practices as us.

Measurement and accountability

Underpinning our ESG framework are our baseline KPI’s, which keep us accountable and focused on year-on-year improvements. These KPI’s are tracked and reviewed quarterly to ensure our priorities are in the right place to support where and how Aptum can make the greatest positive impact within the ESG framework.
