The holidays are when we come together and share time with family and friends, but it is also a time for us to reflect on how fortunate we are at Aptum.
We’re proud of the incredible efforts from everyone at Aptum who participated. Below are some of the examples of the causes and organizations we recognized in 2019.
In Toronto, Canada, The West Mall and Horner locations collected food as well as monetary donations for the Daily Bread food bank. So many in the Toronto region struggle with food insecurity, the Daily Bread kitchen feeds up to 5,000 people per week. Adding to the giving, our Pullman location supported The Salvation Army this season which was chosen for its work with homeless, youth, and for families that can’t afford Christmas.
Vancouver, Canada, collected food, toys, clothing and supplies for a variety of charities this year such as the Greater Vancouver Food Bank, The DTES Women’s Resource Centre, the Christmas Wish Bureau, and Covenant House. There are a lot of teenagers in low income families in Vancouver, so the Aptum team gave two bicycles this year to provide essential transportation, self-reliance and freedom to those who need it most.
The Aptum team in Valbonne, France, banded together with their office building to collect toys, clothing, and food for SECOURS POPULAIRES FRANCAIS, a charity committed to fighting poverty and discrimination. They provide emergency shelter, food, clothing, and referrals to health care facilities. They also support equal access to housing, health, vacations, cultural, sports and leisure activities, and job placement services.
Our office in Southampton, U.K., supported SCRATCH to provide toys and gifts to disadvantaged children on Christmas Day. The team put together gift packages for children aged 0 to 18, carefully (and at times competitively!) tailoring the hampers to suit the family profile they had been given. In total, around 30 hampers were put together by the team to be delivered. Monies were also donated from the sale of office furniture and items that were no longer required, raising more than £6,000.
In London, U.K., the team supported three charities: The Winter Toy Appeal, providing to children in need via a network of social workers, schools, children’s centres and food banks; The Waterloo Food Bank, supporting the most vulnerable including parents who have to choose between rent and food; and the Whitechapel Mission, a results-oriented organization providing for a person’s immediate need of food, shelter, and medical care through to recovery with life-skills and job training programs.
Aptum’s San Antonio, U.S., office collected items for the San Antonio Food Bank. Their focus is on ensuring the people they serve have both food for today and the resources to be self-sufficient in the future. They also run farmers’ markets to offer a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables, many being grown at the San Antonio Food Bank farms.
A big THANK YOU to everyone who helped to organize, volunteer, and donate to the 2019 Aptum Holiday Drive!
