We are delighted to share the exciting news that Ian Rae has been appointed as Aptum’s new President and CEO. With his wealth of experience and an impressive track record of innovation, Ian is exceptionally well-suited to lead Aptum as we continue to shape the future of cloud technology.
Ian is no stranger to Aptum, as he joined us in January 2023 following our acquisition of CloudOps. As the visionary founder and CEO of CloudOps since 2005, Ian brings extensive expertise in pioneering cloud consulting, managed services, and software. CloudOps has been a leader in cloud native platforms, open-source technologies, and DevOps practices for the past 18 years. Aptum will look to build on the success of the strategic acquisition of CloudOps, to enhance our capabilities and enable us to deliver comprehensive multi-cloud solutions and services across 43 countries.
Ian’s journey in the technology industry began in 1997 when he served as the CIO at Canderel Management. In this role, he was responsible for implementing innovative information systems that provided a competitive advantage to the Canderel Group of companies. He then went on to become the VP of Engineering at Coradiant, a pioneering startup specializing in web application performance management, which was later acquired by BMC. Ian is also the founder of cloud.ca, now known as Hypertec Cloud, the original Canadian cloud infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) platform designed to meet strict data residency, privacy, and security requirements.
In addition to his role at Aptum, Ian serves on the board of directors for Genome Canada and Air Transat. He is also a member of the Digital Industries Table for the Government of Canada and the Canadian Council of Innovators. Furthermore, Ian holds a B.Sc. Hon. in Biology from McGill University, with a specialization in Evolutionary Genetics. He actively contributes to the Montreal startup community as an advisor and angel investor.
With Ian’s strong foundation in cloud technology development and his remarkable history of innovative leadership, his appointment as Aptum’s CEO marks an exciting shift into the next phase of pioneering cloud technology and shaping the digital future. under Ian’s guidance, Aptum will continue to build on its unique multi-cloud and cloud networking expertise and combine this with our deep heritage as a market leading digital infrastructure business, supporting our customers on their journey to digital success and unlocking their ability to own their destiny in the cloudTM.
